Het Theater District is één van de belangrijkste toeristische trekpleisters van New York. Alleen al de vele lichten maken het de moeite waard om Broadway bij nacht te bezoeken. Het Broadway Theater is de hoogste professionele vorm van theater in de VS. Toneelstukken en musicals worden opgevoerd in een van de 39 theaters. die vrijwel allen gelegen zijn in en rond Times Square. De theatervoorstellingen zijn over het algemeen van dinsdagavond tot en met zaterdagavond om 20.00 uur. Er is vaak een matinee op de middagen van woensdag, zaterdag en zondag. Op zondagavond en op maandag zijn er in de meeste theaters geen voorstellingen.

Programma Broadway

Momenteel draaien er de grootste adembenemende prijswinnende, nieuwe musicals zoals Wicked, Jersey Side Story, en een aantal 'feel-good' musicals Boys, Mary Poppins, de revival van de West zoals Mamma Mia, en Billy Elliot. Last moment tickets (voor dezelfde dag en voor de matinee op de volgende dag) worden met korting met 25-50% verkocht via de tickets buro's van TKTS die u kunt vinden op Times Square.
